Late last year we brought you photos of Mercedes’ answer to the BMW X1, in the form of a petite SUV aptly named the GLA. Today, our spies in the northern winter captured the first photos of the new crossover’s AMG variant, the GLA 45 AMG while testing in Scandinavia. The GLA will ride on the MFA platform that currently underpins the A- and B-Class. The AMG prototype in the photos reveals larger air intakes in the front bumper, bigger wheels, bigger brakes and, like in many other AMG prototypes in their early stages, one single exhaust on each side. The AMG variant will come with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that develops approximately 335 hp.
