Microsoft helps Volvo take its customers into a world of ‘mixed reality’

Volvo and software giant Microsoft have joined forces to develop next-generation automotive technologies, including autonomous driving. One of the first initatives is the use of Microsoft’s ‘HoloLens” glasses to help customers explore every inch of the car they are interested in buying. The HoloLens is a wearable computer that provides what Microsoft calls “mixed reality”, or a combination of the digital and real world. Said Volvo’s chief safety engineer, Martin Magnussen: “We are only at the beginning of what is possible.” This video shows how HoloLens works.
