Kiwi Gregg Hamilton was doing a panelbeating apprenticeship when he found himself thrown into the world of rallying. First up was a team role in the Rally of NZ. Later, rally teams in Asia. Later still, with ProDrive and Subaru in Britain. These days he lives Stateside and works with American Ken Block’s Subaru set-up. But it’s Hamilton’s hobby car that has attracted so much interest in the US. It’s a 1979 Pontiac TransAm, a hangover from the days of car action movies like Smokey and the Bandit. In this video from Petrolicious, Hamilton tells how he built his dream car.
