The folks around the Alaskan town of Glacier View have their own way of celebrating US Independence Day – they launch beat-up cars from a 150m runaway and over a 100m-high bluff. Been doing it since 2005, at a party that began in 1996. This Fourth of July they planned on launching four vehicles, but one lost its way and crashed into a bulldozer. Party organiser Arnie Hrncir’s son Dustin said: “Any little kid’s dream is to roll a rock down a hill. This is times 10.” About 550 people turned up last Monday and munched their way through 230kg of beef, pork and chicken. This video was filmed by the Alaska Dispatch News.
