BMW said a couple of months ago that its new M4 GTS could lap the 22km Nurburgring circuit in 7 minutes and 28 seconds. We believe you, said those who worship at the BMW altar. Others wanted proof. So here it is, narrated in real-time by race team driver Joerg Weidinger, a BMW engineer. Weidinger recorded a 7:27:88 lap, making the M4 GTS the fastest production BMW ever clocked around the Nurburgring. It beats the M3 CSL (7:50), the standard M4 (7:52), and more powerful models like the M5 and M6. The record lap puts the M4 GTS in rare company, split seconds behind the Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren MP4-12C, and Porsche Carrera GT.
