Bio: Phil Hanson began writing about cars while working for the Vancouver Sun. His first review was of the Ford Pinto, which wasn't rear ended and thus failed to explode. Back in New Zealand, he has written for a range of newspapers, magazines and websites on all types of vehicles, but specialising in 4WDs, SUVs and utilities. While secretly hankering for a Morgan Plus Eight, he actually owned a Land Rover Defender 90 for 13-plus years and now has a trail-ready two-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
